The last time I wrote about this idea … I said these words might be about the most important in the English Language. This is even more critical when it comes to people you care about.
I was having a conversation on the phone with a friend the other day; we had not spoken for a while; so we were bringing each other up to speed on all that had transpired in our lives. While we did this, I began to notice how the “Mood” in which we were speaking was absolutely anchored in our commitment to living with the “How Can I Help?” ethic.
- It created the space for “Active Listening”.
- It also allowed us to be “Empathic” to each other.
- It set the space for appropriate and relevant response.
All these are very important when you seek to help people solve a problem they are dealing with. Please hold this stance in your personal lives as well; with people you care about. They deserve you softness and kindness. I find the personal skills we leverage in world of business are relevant and useful in our personal lives.
Go the extra mile and make a difference in the lives of the people you love.
