Tip # 23 – Empower others to win … everywhere

March 10th, 2011 @ admin

Let me remind you that this week I am relating all my posts to my 5th Principle, the Principle of Practical Leadership. I have found, that this principle enables you to experience benefits that could add up to significant value.

When you begin empowering others to succeed at whatever is important to them, you begin to have people be more willing to assist you more frequently. It is like “Paying It Forward”.

Notice people around you and see how you could help them take care of their concerns and problems. Assist and empower them to win as often and whenever possible.

Holding this perspective and making this commitment to assist and empower can be acted on everywhere you go. Here are some business examples;

1. Your customer seems to be pre-occupied with something; ask him or here what it bothering them and see if you can help. You might be surprised at how easy it is to make a difference and build a lasting relationship.
2. You assist a customer by helping them find another vendor for an unrelated service, they thank you and you get to enjoy a stronger working relationship.
3. You have to let an employee go, they begin working for a potential customer. Then, because of his or her respect for you, they invite you in to bid on a project and you gain a new customer.

The list goes on, but I think you get the idea.

In Conclusion:
Help, assist, empower people to take care of whatever is important to them. Do it with dignity and do it powerfully. You will notice how your circle of influence grows and you begin to find help easier and more cost effectively. In tough markets, this becomes very handy and very profitable.
